It's: "Fair Time!"

Hi Friends,
What a fantastic journey this has been, getting this collection of songs on record and in hand.
My new album, "Fair Time!" has arrived, and we are now in the middle of folding and packaging and generally hand knitting the little packets of goodness! It was my friend Nick's idea to have the particular packaging that we have, and I've been getting good feedback on it. I would like to know your thoughts on it too.
As some of you may know, I've been back and forth to friend and guitar player Billy Derby's home studio in New Hampshire all winter, putting a little of this and a little of that into the mix. Sam Zucchini joined us on drums, and Dave Anderson played some bass. Billy, as you will see and hear, played some bass as well, and all the guitar playing, and he also put on some pedal steel. We had fun laying on percussion. The songs were all penned by yours truly, with a number of them being composed in collaboration with Billy or some of the other wonderful musicians that I have had the good fortune to play with through the years.
One can order the CD through my website, katetaylor.com. I will be having the capability to download the songs from my website at some point in the near future, but I really would like you to see this art work and have it in your hands when you listen sometimes, as the lyrics are all there, and there are pictures that pertain to a number of the tunes on the disc.
It is a joyous moment, a great moment for us. It's been a beautiful road to get to this point. The work has been done, the crops are in and now, my sweet friends, it's "Fair Time!"
And we also have the "Kate Taylor:Tunes From the Tipi and Other Songs From Home" DVD release coming up in August. Stay tuned for that. Liz Witham, the fearless leader of Docutunes.tv, is weaving her magic story-telling spell with this piece. I am honored to be the subject of one of her works. No one tells the stories better than she and Ken do.
If you have any questions for me regarding the CD, the DVD or anything else for that matter, you can find me right here at Docutunes.tv.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Much love always,
Kate

Write this!.....

Hi Friends,
Thank you so much for your encouraging and insightful comments about the record.
I was wondering if you might mind if I wrote here occasionally about the back stories behind the songs.

Several of them were writing requests or assignments. My friend Nancy Aronie gave me the chance to take her writing workshop here in Chilmark a few months into the winter after Charlie passed on. What she does in these classes is give you a subject, like "What my father never told me" or "what I did w… Continue

SuperGroup, I'll say, continued

I've been invited for several years to be a part of a benefit show that promotes and supports a group called Right-Turn, based in Arlington, MA, which serves artists and musicians and other creative people in their recovery from drug and alcohol abuse. They give folks a place to go, a place to perform informally and a place for community and support. My friend Judy Belushi Pisano, who was married to John Belushi, turned me on to them. I started out and continue to be involved as a memorial to ou… Continue

Supergroup, say what?

Hi dear Docu-Tunitarians. Aren't we lucky! There are the best posts on this site! Fabulous! Thank you everyone for sharing the cream of the on-line crop!
I have been having a wondrous time. I was up in NH this past week with Billy Derby working on this new recording we're doing. I can't wait for you to hear it! We are very close to done, and are planning our CD release party on the island for July 23, with a concert at the Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs. You have to see this space. It's octagonal an… Continue

Yes It's me and I'm back home again

Hi friends, thank you so much for staying in touch. Andrew, thank you for your kind comments, and I am remiss in my postings and I appreciate a little nudge.
So, here is a story about a little nudge.
Soon after my late husband Charlie Witham died, in 2001, our old and dear friend Flower died after a long battle with cancer. She put up a valiant struggle, and, like a lot of folks that we know who have fought these things, she was full of grace till the end. Her husband Steve asked if I would sing… Continue

Just stopping by to say hi. You should add your Marblehead gig to the events. To do that, go to your profile page, and in the left-hand column you'll see an option to add an event.

" The Chapel Hillbillies " what a sweet name for a song. I remember "King of the Pond " and how this song came about. And it will not be too long now before it's born.
